The Zeus Arc lineup has been around for a while now, and if you’ve looked into portable dry herb vaporizers, you’ve probably come across at least one of them. We previously covered the more premium Zeus Arc GT4, which packed some impressive features into a pocket-sized device, but also came with a pretty hefty price tag.
Now there’s the Zeus Arc S2, a more affordable option that keeps many of the same features while cutting back on a few of the premium extras. The big question is whether those extras are actually worth paying for, or if the S2 is all most people really need.
Design and Build Quality
One thing Zeus has always done well is making compact vaporizers that don’t feel cheap. The Arc S2 continues that trend with a brushed black aluminum body that looks clean, feels solid, and doesn’t draw much attention.

It’s small enough to slip into a pocket, and at around 117 grams, it shouldn’t be much trouble to carry around throughout the day. There’s no big screen, complicated menu, or smartphone app to deal with. Just a single button, LED indicators, and vibration feedback that lets you know when it’s ready.
Compared to the GT4, the S2 is definitely the more basic-looking device. You’re not getting the same gold-coated heating components that help give the GT4 its premium appeal. Instead, the S2 uses stainless steel and ceramic components.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing. The gold components are nice, but they’re not something everyone needs, especially if you’re mainly looking for a reliable everyday vaporizer.
Vapor Quality and Performance
The Arc S2 uses conduction heating, meaning your material is heated through contact with the hot chamber rather than primarily through heated airflow.
It takes approximately 35 seconds to reach temperature, which is pretty reasonable for a portable vaporizer. There are six temperature settings for dry herb, ranging from 383°F to 437°F, plus three additional settings for concentrates that reach up to 491°F.
Lower temperatures are better suited for those who prioritize flavor and a gentler experience, while higher settings are intended for stronger vapor production.
One thing worth mentioning is the airflow. The S2 is designed more for slower, mouth-to-lung draws rather than big, wide-open pulls. If you’re used to a vaporizer with very little draw resistance, this might take some getting used to.
The GT4 has an advantage here, particularly with its upgraded gold-coated heating and cooling components. It’s designed to offer better airflow and stronger vapor production, especially during longer draws.
Still, the S2 doesn’t seem like a huge sacrifice for someone who prefers shorter, casual sessions rather than trying to get the biggest clouds possible.
The ArcPod System: Convenient, but With a Catch
Probably the biggest selling point of the S2 is its compatibility with Zeus ArcPods.
Instead of packing loose flower directly into the heating chamber, you fill small reusable pods ahead of time and simply swap them in when you’re ready. There’s also a WaxPod system for concentrates.
For anyone who uses a vaporizer while out and about, this is a pretty convenient setup. You can prepare a few pods at home, carry them with you, and avoid grinding and loading flower every time.
It’s also a nice way to keep the chamber cleaner, since most of the material stays contained inside the pod.
But there’s a catch.
The S2 is designed to work exclusively with Zeus’s proprietary pods. Unlike a traditional dry herb vaporizer, you can’t just toss some ground flower directly into the chamber.

That means additional accessories to buy, clean, and keep track of. If you’re already invested in the Zeus ecosystem, this probably won’t bother you. For everyone else, it’s worth considering before buying.
Battery Life and Everyday Convenience
Battery life is another area where the S2 looks pretty good on paper. It comes with a 3500 mAh battery, the same capacity as the GT4, and charges through USB-C in approximately 90 minutes.
The device also includes motion-sensing technology that helps conserve power when it’s sitting idle.
Dry herb sessions run for up to six minutes, while concentrate sessions have a shorter cycle of around two minutes and fifteen seconds.
One downside is that the battery isn’t removable. That’s fairly common with compact vaporizers, but it does mean you can’t simply swap in a fresh battery when the original eventually wears out.
Another nice feature is compatibility with Zeus’s Iceborn cooling system and water-pipe accessories. This gives you the option of using the S2 with additional cooling at home instead of relying entirely on its standard mouthpiece.
Zeus Arc S2 vs. Zeus Arc GT4: Which Is Better?
This is probably the comparison most people will care about.
Both vaporizers share quite a bit in common. They have 3500 mAh batteries, USB-C charging, six dry herb temperatures, three concentrate temperatures, and support for the ArcPod system.
The biggest differences come down to vapor performance, materials, loading flexibility, and price.
The GT4 is the more premium vaporizer, with gold-coated heating components, a more advanced cooling system, and greater flexibility when it comes to loading your material. It also has an advantage in vapor output, particularly for people who prefer longer draws.
The S2 is more focused on convenience and affordability. You lose some of those premium features, but you still get the same basic temperature options, battery capacity, and compatibility with dry herb and concentrate pods.
At the time of writing, TVape lists the S2 at approximately $110 compared with $200 for the GT4. That’s a pretty significant price difference.
Personally, looking at those differences, I think the S2 makes more sense for someone buying their first Zeus vaporizer or wanting something convenient for everyday use. The GT4 becomes more appealing if vapor quality and loading flexibility are higher priorities.
If you already own a GT4, though, there’s really not much reason to switch to the S2. It would be more of a budget-friendly alternative than an upgrade.

Who Is the Zeus Arc S2 Best For?
The S2 makes the most sense for someone who values portability and convenience over having every premium feature available.
It’s particularly appealing for people who like to prepare their flower ahead of time. The pod system makes it easy to switch between sessions without dealing with loose material, which is handy when you’re traveling or spending the day away from home.
It’s also worth considering for beginners who want something relatively simple without spending a couple hundred dollars on a more expensive vaporizer.
On the other hand, experienced users who prefer unrestricted airflow, larger sessions, or more precise temperature control might find it a little limiting.
And if you primarily use concentrates, a dedicated wax vaporizer may still be a better choice than a dual-use device like this one.
Final Verdict: Is the Zeus Arc S2 Worth It?
The Zeus Arc S2 is an interesting addition to the lineup because it doesn’t really try to compete with the GT4 on every feature. Instead, it takes the core Zeus experience and makes it more affordable.
You still get a solid battery, multiple temperature settings, a portable design, and support for both flower and concentrates. The biggest compromises are the simpler heating and cooling components, the somewhat restricted airflow, and the requirement to use proprietary pods.
For around $110, there’s a lot to like here, particularly if convenience is your main priority.
Would I recommend it over the GT4? For someone new to portable vaporizers who doesn’t want to spend too much, probably. But if you’re more interested in vapor quality, airflow, and being able to load loose flower without pods, the GT4 is still the better option.
Bottom line: The Zeus Arc S2 isn’t trying to be the best vaporizer money can buy. It’s trying to be a practical, pocket-friendly daily driver that doesn’t cost a fortune. For the right person, that’s exactly what makes it appealing.
